An’la Naman
There are quite a few things that inspire me to write tagalog poems, or at least to read and recite it.
1) I always enjoy Kakang Tuling’s (Amapo’s drinking buddy) impromtu poem composition. He seems like composing it while reciting it, with a shot of gin in his hand of course.
2) Amapo told me that he was once a poem reciting competition contestant when he was in primary. Representative of his school, oh forgot to ask if he won… Yeah, I want to be just like him, but no chance during my time, instead I was picked to join a declamation contest, “The Hare and the Tortoise”.
3) I really admire Kiko Balagtas’ rhymes in his “Florante at Laura”. How can I do even a few stanza with these rhymes.
4) To be con’t.
